CRAFTER’S TIPS

1. Be Prepared – Try to imagine your customers experience from beginning to end. This will help you be more organized
and will help generate a smooth experience for you and your customer. Make a list and cross off items as you put them in your vehicle-it’s not a good feeling to get half way through setting up your booth only to realize you’ve forgotten an important part of your display.

2. Be Friendly – Say hello to everyone and let them know if they have questions, that you are available. Sitting quietly in your booth or chatting with the friend you brought along to help will not build customer relationships. But equally important is to allow the craft shopper to browse without constant interruptions.

3. Business cards!!! – They are vital to your business, so have them on your tables, in your pockets and in each package your customers carry away from your booth. This gives them a way to contact you when they need more of your product. This also gives them a way to share your information with friends who may also love your items.

4. Try to have a “Sale” item or a bundled deal. – We all love a bargain and many times this will entice customers to make a purchase. It’s also a great idea to have a jar of candy for potential customers. This draws people in to your booth and it’s all about bringing people in to develop those relationships. Even if they don’t make a purchase give them a business card so they have a way to contact you later.

5. Price EVERYTHING – This is a real pet peeve of mine… Un-priced items are assumed to be too expensive and customers will not go out of their way to ask how much. Many times people are just too shy to ask. Don’t miss a sale because you’ve missed a price tag.
